Travel: Windmills of Zaanse Schans - Holland

Discover a wonderful world of windmills, in a walk into history in place were people lived a simple life of duty, work and struggle, in a time where they were grateful for their living.
Enjoy the beauty of windmills architecture, with simple but perfect wood work, vivid paint, traditional houses, surrounded by typical Dutch channels and distant nice looking houses.
This is Zaanse Schans ...
Crossing the bridge to historical area, lovely looking Dutch houses are facing the windmills on the right side
First windmills are making a great appearance from the bridge.
A small bridge cross into history to a fairly tale looking house, what a lucky people lived here. So much green around
Journey continued with a spectacular view of three windmills, here I've cropped the two on the right to make a better composition. Water, colors, sky, a perfect scene to shoot
Walking a few steps further, same mills but a different view with some foreground vegetation and less sunlight. On the left, some distant mills that will be in the next pictures
Still same mill, but close. The weather starts to deteriorate and sky fills with clouds completely. Wind blows bending the vegetation adding some dynamism to drama that installs.
Sporadic sun appears time to time but still windy. Shooting backwards this time for a small window of blue sky
All in one piece of land with a water fence around
A switch of lens, dropping my beloved 35mm Art in favor of heavier 150mm 2.8 macro for longer reach over the channel to a distant church surrounded by small and colorful houses.
Back to village, still some more mills..
A good opportunity for a backlight shoot. In a short burst of strength, the Sun behind this mill, with a vegetation foreground with some negative space one the right side
After some  time spent in the village it was time to return. The weather started to break, again with wind guts and small drops of rain. The dramatic and heavy sky adds to darker tones in the picture
Distant shoot again @150mm over the channel.. Colors start to loose their vivid look under clouded sky and breaking weather.
Time for my 150mm... long distance shoots over some windmills. Nice to see people around the goods there, almost making the mill live again
And a closer look at the windmill on the roof seen in the first pictures in the set. How good is to have a longer reach at hand. Nice woodwork. dreamy architecture and drama in the sky to make for a well deserved portrait of engineering.
Good bye Zaanse Schans for 2023..
One last shoot from the bridge on my way back, same houses as first picture, somewhere on the back - right is the church we've seen some pictures ago. Time to put the camera in my backpack and return to Amsterdam.
